  • Dr. Aadithreya Varman is a renowned Cataract and Refractive surgeon with expertise in advanced eye care. He is the Director of Uma Eye Clinic in Chennai, where he leads a team of professionals dedicated to delivering world-class ophthalmic treatments. Dr. Varman specializes in cataract surgery, refractive surgeries, and presbyopia correction.
  • Dr. Varman is known for his groundbreaking achievements in the field of ophthalmology. At the age of 28, he became one of the youngest surgeons to perform live cataract surgery at a prestigious ophthalmology meeting, showcasing his confidence and surgical proficiency. He is also the Head of the Phacoemulsification Training Program at Uma Eye Clinic, where he trains the next generation of ophthalmologists in advanced cataract surgery techniques.

  • Presented at various state, national, and international conferences including ASCRS and AIOS (All India Ophthalmology Society).
  • One of the youngest surgeons to perform live cataract surgery at ophthalmology meetings (At the age of 28).
  • Performed multiple live surgery demonstrations on phacoemulsifications at ophthalmology conferences (5 live surgeries till date).
  • Performed Live SMILE surgery on Visumax 800 at a state-level ophthalmology conference.
  • Presented Instruction courses on SMILE at ASCRS annual meeting as chief instructor in the years 2022,2023 and 2024 (Instruction course title “Nuances to achieve optimal outcomes with Small Incision Lenticule Extraction).
  • Recently started performing Presbyond LASIK to correct Presbyopia (From October 2023).
  • Currently an executive member and a part of the leadership of the Young Ophthalmologists Association of India.
  • Performed 3000+ Cataract surgeries including Multifocals, Toric IOLs, and EDOFs.
  • Performed 300 ICL procedures.
  • Performed 1500 Procedures of SMILE (On Visumax 500 and 800).

  • Recipient of 3 best paper awards at the Tamilnadu Ophthalmic Association annual meeting, including the Prof C.P.Gupta gold medal for overall best paper of the conference
  • Recipient of the Best Paper of Session award at the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery Annual Meeting 2024 for the paper “Assessing the surgical competency of novice surgeons by using a three-dimensional heads-up display microscope”.
  • Awarded the prestigious “Fellow of the World College of Refractive Surgery”(FWCRS)
